The Symphony Orchestra of India Spring 2018 concerts commence on February 11 2018 with The Ring Without Words, an orchestral journey through Wagner’s epic ‘Ring’ cycle, arranged and stitched together by Lorin Maazel and conducted by Antoni Wit. The second concert, on February 16, features the lush romantic music of Gustav Mahler sung by internationally-renowned baritone Benjamin Appl, and Richard Strauss’ An Alpine Symphony. Zane Dalal will then conduct a concert of symphonic favourites by Schubert and Mendelssohn on February 24, featuring pianist Roberto Prosseda in Mendelssohn’s first piano concerto. The Bournemouth Symphony Chorus from the UK returns to Mumbai for two concerts. On March 4, Gavin Carr conducts two glorious choral works by Beethoven and Haydn and on March 6, Zane Dalal conducts the famous Handel’s Messiah.

ARTIST CHANGE FOR CONCERTS ON FEBRUARY 11 & 16

Due to medical reasons, Antoni Wit has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the forthcoming concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of India.
We are pleased to announce that Jacek Kaspszyk will take over both the concerts on February 11 & 16. We are very grateful to Maestro Kaspszyk for agreeing to alter his schedule at such short notice to take over these performances.
Both programmes remain unchanged.
